TITAY, Zamboanga Sibugay, September 8, 2026 — The Titay Municipal Fire Station (MFS) continues its commitment to supporting deserving students through the Adopt-a-Student Program, providing financial and moral support to help young learners pursue their education and achieve their dreams.

For this year’s initiative, the Titay Fire Station adopted 19-year-old Jhonrey Indong Caperida, a resident of Kitabog, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay, and a student of Jose Rizal Memorial State University – Tampilisan Campus, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Secondary Education, major in English.

Through the program, personnel of the Titay MFS extend financial assistance from their own resources while also providing encouragement and moral support to Jhonrey as he continues his studies. The initiative aims not only to ease some of the financial challenges faced by students but also to remind them that there are people who believe in their potential.

For the firefighters, supporting a student is an investment in the future. They hope that Jhonrey will complete his education, achieve his goals, and eventually become someone who can extend the same opportunity and encouragement to other young people who are striving to finish their studies.

The Adopt-a-Student Program was initiated by FSSUPT JACQUELINE S ORTEGA, DSC, during her stint as Acting Provincial Fire Marshal of Zamboanga Sibugay. Since its implementation, the program has provided assistance to deserving students, demonstrating how public servants can extend their service beyond emergency response.

The program reflects a simple but powerful belief: helping one student finish school can create a ripple effect that reaches many more lives.

For Titay MFS, the mission is not limited to protecting lives during emergencies. It also means investing in people, nurturing dreams, and giving deserving young Filipinos a better chance at a brighter future.
