TITAY, Zamboanga Sibugay, August 14, 2026 \u2014 Bringing life-saving knowledge closer to children in far-flung communities, the Titay Municipal Fire Station (MFS) conducted fire safety and disaster preparedness activities at day care centers in Barangay Supit on August 11 and Barangay San Isidro on August 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative aimed to equip young learners with simple yet essential safety practices they can remember and apply during fires, earthquakes, floods, and other emergencies. Through age-appropriate discussions and interactive activities, BFP personnel taught the children what to do when an emergency occurs, how to seek help, and why it is important to remain calm and follow the instructions of adults and emergency responders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognizing children as among the most vulnerable members of the community during disasters, the Titay MFS brought safety education directly to the communities, particularly those in far-flung areas where access to regular safety programs and emergency services may be more challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the firefighters, the long journey to these communities was more than worth the effort. Beyond teaching children how to stay safe, the visits created an opportunity to build trust and familiarity between the young learners and the firefighters who could one day be among the first responders they encounter during an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outreach also underscored the commitment of the Titay MFS to ensuring that no community is left behind in disaster preparedness. Geographic distance, the firefighters emphasized through their actions, should never become a barrier to accessing life-saving knowledge\u2014especially for children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By reaching young learners where they live and study, the BFP seeks to nurture a generation that is not only aware of potential hazards but also prepared to respond appropriately when emergencies arise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative serves as a reminder that disaster preparedness begins at an early age and that even the simplest safety lesson can make a difference when it matters most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
